International Women's Day Celebration 2025
Venue: Kora Centre
On 8 March, we marked International Women's Day with a heartfelt celebration at our Kora Centre. Although the event was modest in scale, it reflected the resilience, determination, and growing confidence of the women in our community.
For many years, our educational programmes and community activities were conducted at Kora Udayani Sangha. However, for the past five months we have been unable to access that space. As a result, our small library has become the centre of all our activities, despite its limited capacity. To ensure that no child's education is interrupted, our dedicated volunteers and members have been visiting students in their homes, continuing classes under challenging circumstances. This Women's Day celebration was therefore held in our library—a reminder that meaningful change does not depend on the size of a venue, but on the strength of a community's commitment.
The theme of this year's programme was "We Are Women, We Can." Mothers from our community and members of our Core Group—our young women leaders of tomorrow—each delivered a three-minute speech on the theme.
Many of these women spend their days working tirelessly in other people's homes, balancing demanding jobs with the responsibilities of caring for their own families. Public speaking was something entirely new for most of them. Yet, with remarkable courage and determination, they stepped forward to share their voices.
Their speeches were not simply part of a competition; they represented growing confidence, self-belief, and the willingness to claim their place in society. Our three teachers served as judges, encouraging every participant throughout the programme.
The top three speakers were recognised with awards presented by our Secretary. In keeping with our belief that "Health is Wealth," Mrs. Chaitali Nath, a member of our Executive Committee, gifted sanitary napkins to all the mothers, reinforcing the importance of women's health, dignity, and well-being.
The celebration concluded with music, laughter, a simple group dance, and shared refreshments. These joyful moments strengthened friendships, built confidence, and reminded everyone that empowerment also grows through belonging, encouragement, and shared experiences.
At Hridaypur Srija, we believe that empowering women begins with creating opportunities for them to learn, speak, lead, and support one another. Every small step taken today lays the foundation for stronger families, more confident children, and more resilient communities tomorrow.
The journey continues, and with the encouragement of our supporters and well-wishers, we remain committed to helping every woman discover her strength, raise her voice, and realise her potential.
